The
main theme of the NASF conference this year is: “Food security on the
global agenda – seafood in a new geopolitical role”. Seafood is one of
the world's largest traded commodities with an annual value turnover of
USD 125 billion. Expansion of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture
products in world trade is among the important issues to be discussed.
It
is important for the industry to meet and to inspire each other and
seek new information and innovation. NASF conference has contributed to
discussions about the opportunities and challenges in this industry,
says CEO of the North Atlantic Seafood Forum, Jorgen J. Lund.
He
says that Norway must take its place as the world's largest export
nation of fish - given that China is now a net fish importer. Norway is
the pioneer in this industry and have the expertise and capital to take a
leading position. This conference has created a venue where the entire
industry can come together, says Lund.
Among
the other speakers at the conference is the world 's foremost experts
and leaders of the largest seafood companies in the world as well as
governmental organizations, international organizations, interest groups
and ministries. Around 100 top leaders from industry will be keynote
