Global
seafood top executives will meet in Bergen March 4 to 6 at the
international seafood sector's biggest business conference - North Atlantic Seafood Forum ( NASF ).
Here
more than 600 senior executives from 45 countries, 380 companies will
reconvene to hear 100 speakers in 10 industry seminars. NASF conference
will be opened by Minister of Trade and Industry Monica Maeland, who
who’s Department also now incorporates the Norwegian Ministry of
Fisheries.

The
main theme of the NASF conference this year is: “Food security on the
global agenda – seafood in a new geopolitical role”. Seafood is one of
the world's largest traded commodities with an annual value turnover of
USD 125 billion. Expansion of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture
products in world trade is among the important issues to be discussed.
It
is important for the industry to meet and to inspire each other and
seek new information and innovation. NASF conference has contributed to
discussions about the opportunities and challenges in this industry,
says CEO of the North Atlantic Seafood Forum, Jorgen J. Lund.
He
says that Norway must take its place as the world's largest export
nation of fish - given that China is now a net fish importer. Norway is
the pioneer in this industry and have the expertise and capital to take a
leading position. This conference has created a venue where the entire
industry can come together, says Lund.
Among
the other speakers at the conference is the world 's foremost experts
and leaders of the largest seafood companies in the world as well as
governmental organizations, international organizations, interest groups
and ministries. Around 100 top leaders from industry will be keynote
speakers at the 10 different workshops.

NASF
is organizing the 4th European Retail seafood seminar where executives
from four leading retail companies will be speaking: Sainsbury's UK, Metro Germany, Delhaize Belgium and ICA
Sweden. The focus is on sustainable growth in seafood demand seen from
the retailers perspectives. At NASF, other key industry seminars
include whitefish, pelagic fish, salmon, sustainability and fisheries
policy. Pareto Securities organizes its major investor finance seminar where a 10 -century listed companies present their enterprises.

This
year's seafood forum has jumped the gun with a special pre-conference 4
March of marine innovation organized by the Innovation Network Marlife
in Norway. The seminar focuses on the cooperation between research and
industry, and presents some of the most innovative cases of marine
research.
