The conference this year is entitled

After a hugely successful Aquaculture Europe 2014 event in Donostia -San Sebastian last October, European Aquaculture Society (EAS) will be holding Aquaculture Europe 2015 from October 20-23 in the Dutch city of Rotterdam.
European aquaculture is an important economic activity in many coastal and continental areas and provides jobs in rural areas. Its full potential has not, however, been developed to date although European and national policy is looking to address this and provide the framework for sustainable growth across this diverse sector.
The conference this year is entitled "Aquaculture, Nature and Society" and will focus on the role and contribution of aquaculture to the management of natural resources and its importance in society through the provision of high quality, nutritious and healthy food.

These are the main thematic areas that will be addressed during the plenary sessions. European and national research is providing highly innovative and integrated solutions to support development and the outputs of this research will be presented in the AE2015 parallel sessions that cover the full scope of European aquaculture and comprise submitted oral and poster presentations. AE2015 will also feature an international trade exhibition, farmers’ days (focusing on RAS and shellfish culture), student sessions and activities, satellite workshops of EU projects and initiatives and updates on EU research.

Online abstract submission is now open and EAS invites you to submit your abstract. The proposed parallel sessions cover many areas of aquaculture research and species that are not just related to The Netherlands.

The trade event is also an important part of the Aquaculture Europe events and EAS is organising industry forums and special panel discussions linked to the conference theme.
The deadline for abstract submission is May 1 and the Early Bird Registration deadline is July 15.
AE2015 will take place at the De Doelen Congress Centre in Rotterdam, located in the centre of the city and only 5 minutes walk from Rotterdam Central station and close to all of the selected conference hotels. The city of Rotterdam is easily accessible via the international airport of Schiphol (25 minutes by train) or the Rotterdam The Hague Airport (EU flights). For neighbouring countries Rotterdam Central Station is linked by international high-speed trains (Thalys from Paris 2½hrs, Brussels 1¼hrs).

About European Aquaculture Society - EAS
The idea for establishing the European Mariculture Society was launched at the occasion of the Tenth European Symposium of Marine Biologists, which took place in Oostende, Belgium, in 1975.
The founding meeting took place on April 29 and 30, 1976 in the office of the Institute for Marine Scientific Research (IZWO) that has supported the society and has provided office space for the EAS secretariat until the late 80's.

The original name European Mariculture Society was changed into European Aquaculture Society in 1984 to better reflect the activity field of the society.
EAS has four principal objectives
• To promote contacts between all involved or interested in marine and freshwater aquaculture;
• To facilitate the circulation of aquaculture related information;
• To promote the sponsorship of multi-disciplinary research concerning aquaculture;
• To enhance cooperation among governmental, scientific and commercial organizations and individuals on all matters dealing with aquaculture.
• To promote contacts between all involved or interested in marine and freshwater aquaculture;
• To facilitate the circulation of aquaculture related information;
• To promote the sponsorship of multi-disciplinary research concerning aquaculture;
• To enhance cooperation among governmental, scientific and commercial organizations and individuals on all matters dealing with aquaculture.
